Prosur meets the requirements to access sustainable financing from BBVA
Access to new BBVA financing products conditional on compliance with certain KPIs or sustainability indicators will allow Prosur to advance in its SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) strategy.
One of the indicators is the calculation and reduction of the carbon footprint, and it is this indicator that Prosur uses to meet the requirements.
Prosur renewed the carbon footprint seal in July, with a reduction of 4.36% in the average emission intensity in the 2019-2021 triennium compared to the 2018-2020 triennium. This certification of the reduction of our emissions will allow us to access the aforementioned financing offers.
The purpose of these funds is to finance projects and undertake improvements that help meet the SDGs.
Some of the ways to achieve it and that we have already undertaken:
1) Increasing the proportion of renewable energy in the set of energy sources that we use by installing solar panels in our headquarters offices.
2) Improving our energy efficiency. Optimizing production processes and energy consumption through modernization, robotization and digitalization of production.
3) Collaborating with associations and foundations for the improvement of the environment, such as our collaboration with ARBA in the reforestation plan of the “Baluarte Project”
These are just some of the projects that we have already developed in order to reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, thus mitigating the effects of climate change and meeting the SDGs.
In addition, Prosur’s mission and vision are clearly aligned with other food-related SDGs, such as improving food safety and promoting healthy foods. That is why we allocate a very important part of our resources to R&D of new products and solutions that improve the health and well-being of consumers.
